I need to find the best chili recipe, but there's like millions of chili recipes online. Tell me the best or easiest chili recipe out there.

I don't want any of that watery shit either, it has to have consistency enough that you could practically eat it by just dipping it with a chip.

Use dried chilis like these, not some generic preground "chili powder" in addition to some fresh like poblano, serrano, jalapeno, etc. Biggest mistake people make with chili is that garbage chili powder bs.

I appreciate that, it's just that 4 lbs of jalapenos, 20 habaneros, and 16 chipotles (which are also jalapenos) is a fucking pile of peppers for 2 lbs of beef. I'm actually not sure if you're serious with that recipe because I'm having trouble visualizing how much 4 lbs of jalapenos is.

>> No.10994742

>>10994723
>4 lbs of jalapenos
A single pepper is probably a coupe of ounces. So like... call it 6 peppers a pound?

24 peppers.

That's going to be god awful spicy on its own, even without the habaneros or a whole bag of chipotles.

>> No.10994765

Spice doesn't really increase that way. I can eat raw jalapenos all day, I do because I work at Tijuana Flats and prep a lot of them. It makes your poop seedier, but it's not like 24 jalapenos is 24x hotter than 1 jalapeno.

No it doesnt. Jalapenos only provide pepper flavor and a bit of sweetness - notice the recipe says to seed them. All the heat actually comes from the habaneros.

>> No.10994833

>>10994781
>>10994784
no? you have to actually try it. It doesn't "stack" or get worse, it stays the same level. Eating 30 jalapenos isn't the same as eating 1 habanero, for example. no matter how many bell peppers you eat, you'll never reach a "hot" level of spice, but by how you're describing it, if I eat 100 bell peppers i'll eventually get a sting of spiciness

Jesus Christ, this board is fucking trash. I've been wanting to make chili for weeks and was holding on to a thread of hope that there would be a halfway fucking decent recipe in this thread. But of course, anything that isn't McChickens, 'Vark sauce, and In-n-Out gets filled with shitposts until it lands in the archives graveyard <30 posts later.

I'll contribute with this recipe. I'm not one of those insufferable "no beans!" purists, but chanced this one shortly after my move to Texas and was pleasantly surprised. I wouldn't pass up on the sour cream and lime, because they compliment the flavor amazingly. Please post some more good chili recipes!
