honestly it's not a "lazy stupid fuck more money than brains" thing. its food that comes portioned with ideas you wouldn't think to try. I'm not a neet that spends all day looking for new recipes and some of this shit comes with one off ingredients you wouldn't have on hand. you don't even need the cue cards they send you as long as you're not a literal retard.
It's easy, fresh, quality produce, cheaper than you'd get at restaurants, saves you time grocery shopping.

Look. I'm out of the house all day, I have sports to do at night. I know how to cook. I don't need someone to tell me how to eat healthy.
I ate something I wouldn't have made before tonight. I have another meal in my repertoire. It's exploratory. It's fun. Do you have anybody else you know you'd like to cook with? This can make it easy for them. Or are you just that big of a fucking sperg that the idea of food coming in a box gets your panties in a knot and for that reason among others no one would ever want to enjoy a meal with you anyway

No, that's not what I mean and you know it.

Imagine the massive amounts of mainteiance and service that would be required for any piece of machinery remotely as complex as a human body. It would be mindboggling.

Better than death? Sure, I'll agree with that. But I doubt it's something you'd want to trade a functioning body for.

it is rather expensive to do on a regular basis yea, I don't think anyone can contest that, but they do throw in all kinds of nice service stuff; the delivery in itself is pretty comfy and for this country that already counts for a bit of the price

>> No.10959952

>how are they dependent?
The following tasks are done for them:
-choosing a dish to prepare
-selecting a good recipe among many poor ones
-selecting ingredients at the market
-learning to portion ingredients & use them up before they go bad
-meal planning/budgeting.

Not to mention the complete removal of the concept of "growing season" from the menu.

Been there, done that, OP.
Actually worked for HelloFresh for quite a while.
I stopped because I can get groceries from my local store for cheaper and support my neighborhood grocer.
Also, the recipes get really repetitive. Way too many oven potatoes, wraps or rice dishes. Obvious downside when the chefs are planning with the same budget per meal - something that you wouldn't necessarily do if you went shopping yourself.

>>10959939
>It would be mindboggling
anon I highly doubt you know/understand how complex everything in the internet is, all services, servers, systems, networks, their communication, automation, and everything, and we manage just fine
if it's a machine and it's built by a human, we'll have what it takes to maintain it
of course you wouldn't trade it for a functioning body, but a body is only properly functioning for ~50 years or so, probably 70 in the future once we have decent healthcare and such
but what happens _after_ that is the real breakthrough, assuming you somehow manage to keep your brain from rotting away until then, but that's a separate challenge

>> No.10959988

>>10959935
the main aspect of these services which actually saves time and labour is simply the intellectual effort of settling on, planning and learning to cook the meal. having that all done for you starting from zero is quite useful. once you've actually cooked the meal, though, you know how to do it and you even have the recipe card. you get diminishing returns on each individual recipe.

Because of this, most people don't stick with services like this for very long as the pool of recipes starts getting repetitive.

Over the entire lifetime of that person's subscription, they generally have become better cooks.

it's not a negative thing at all. I think it's an unsustainable business model tho

>I highly doubt you know/understand how complex everything in the internet is
I am an engineer, I'm well aware. It truly is amazing. But remember that:
a) despite all our efforts, the internet is full of errors and mistakes that could conceivably "kill" our hypothetical robotic body. It's far from perfect, and that's despite constant human intervention (i.e. bug fixes).
and
b) when we talk about the internet we're not discussing any moving parts. Throw motion into the mix and things get all kinds of crazy.

>>if it's a machine and it's built by a human, we'll have what it takes to maintain it
I never claimed that maintenance would be impossible. I claimed it would have drawbacks. And they will be major.

Have you ever owned or worked on a highly complex machine? Like, say, a welding robot or a machine tool (CNC lathe or mill)? The sheer amount of time and effort spent lubricating, checking fluid levels, making adjustments, replacing filters and gaskets and other consumable parts....it requires a staggering amount of effort. And that's for something that is dead simple compared to the complexities of the human body. Automation helps, but it also creates points of failure.
