Interesting. Do you recognize the full (two-tortilla) quesadilla as a true quesadilla? That is the kind I usually make, though I have found no difference in taste except at the fold.
I feel an important distinction with the calzone is that the bread is sealed around the filling before cooking, whereas the bread in a quesadilla is cooked before assembly.
