I am living in the states for school rn.
I don't know if its a "local" food but fries "animal style" from in-and-out burger is all people in Utah talk about. people actually drive into a different town an hour away for it on weekends.

In my opinion they are disgusting. just a mucky mound of dairy based toppings of soggy fries.
But Utah is generally one of the worst places for food I have ever been so I guess its all relative...

Idk... people hype up asado too much but to be fair a well made asado is delicious, so I cannot really blame them. I like most our regional food except maybe humita.
Most overrated is probably lechón (piglet) because people treat it like some wealthy people's food only to be served in important gatherings but to me its meat is a bit slimy and not very satisfying, even though it tastes good. I'd rather have veal, and for special ocasions, lamb or goat.
