Not really. For people who never really eat much spicy food, it just becomes new and interesting so they want to see what it's like to make something spicier. Usually after a while they realize it's just not as enjoyable and go back to a moderate level of spiciness and focus on better flavors. The same thing happened with IPA beers, and people drinking them thinking more bitter = more better. Being excited about something new that you can experiment with that is pretty harmless isn't a character flaw.

You may need to up your tolerance for spicy foods which is pretty easy to do, but once you can handle the heat, scotch bonnet sauces taste amazing, way better than jalapeño or habanero.
