What are some of your favorite can foods? I love how convinient and affordable and delicious they are. You can eat them cold right out of the can or even warm the can up in the fire for a bit if you want a hot meal.

The only tinned foods I get regularly are Heinz baked beans and chopped tomatoes.
Every so often I'll get some soups too.
Whenever I'm going camping I get a couple tins of rice pudding and Stagg chilli.

It's the only canned food I think tastes just as good cold as it does hot.

French blended string beans.
Canned Oregon Blueberries in the off season, never eating foreign blue berries like the patrician I am.

I sometimes mix canned veggies into soups with fresher veggies to help cut cost. No one notices that the tomatoes are canned. You have to be careful though, canned veggies often have a lot of salt.

I also make tuna and chicken salad with canned meat. Its good for sandwiches.

Sometimes I'll fry some spam for a sandwich with some beer.

Canned food is actually the best thing you can eat for the environment. It takes a lot less fuel to make and ship and doesn't rot in the store.

if you give a shit about the earth, you should eat more canned food and learn what dried beans and rice are.

these kind of meat stews are among my fav

I completely get it btw, can food is great considering the ease of making it and the cost

I cook a lot at home but I always make sure my pantry is stocked with canned goods for those times I just want an instant meal/cbf cooking or have no ingredients around the house

This stuff with a couple eggs scrambled in was my favorite thing as a kid and I still eat it on occasion when I’m feeling lazy. Besides Campbell soups it’s the only canned food I make a point to keep around the house.

Frozen veggies are cheaper by oz once you account for the canning liquid which can be up to 50% of the package weight. No added salt, and better texture too.

I find canned foods too salty and soggy to enjoy. Perhaps it's healthier than a frozen meal or instant ramen, but by how much I don't know.
