What are the arguments against paleo diet?
As usual, vegans not welcome.

I'm not 100% about the science but fuck the no dairy aspect?

I'm epileptic and since I've switched to a near keto diet I've been feeling so much better. I still have a homemade pizza or a bowl of chex or something but my typical diet looks like theirs.

Looks good to me, although I'd like to clarify that there are no "safe or unsafe" starches. Starch is simply a chain of glucose monomers, and as such, it's source does not matter at all. Starch from rice is the same as from potatoes, or wheat. The only difference among these is the starch granule size (i.e. small or large), which has a direct impact on cooking applications (i.e. different gelatinatization temps, etc)

You get starch from nuts too by the way. Don't know why they decided to remove legumes, they're great foods.

Veganism is just a fashion statement, and as such, it is incredibly stupid and reserved for the sheep and the rich.

>>10649568
No, there are different types of starch. A bit of search in google and you'll get the result.
Also, nuts contain pretty low amount of carbohydrates compared to potatoes or wheat. Not sure, but I believe most of it is indigestible one.

Milk is dirt cheap here half mine spoils before I use it. I usually just put some in tea or have an 8oz glass a week and a bowl of cereal a week. I consume a lot of aged cheese, 8-12 years old, per month but that doesn't act like normal dairy.

Anyways, not my blog but I won't cut something 100% out of my diet. Thought I'm close to doing it with bell peppers as I could swear I'm allergic to the fuckers. Other peppers are fine but instant gas followed by redness and shitting from bell.

From a nutritional standpoint, the difference between amylose and amylopectin is negligible, as they are both composed of glucose, and enzymes will break these down. A bit of search in google and you'll get the result.

Unless you're chemist designing a modified starch for a specific function in a food product/process, or an R&D technologist working on a product with certain properties, then there is no such thing as a difference in starches from plant sources. The average fashion dieting Joe need not worry.

You're right. In the U.S. every product is required to have a statement of identity. If the a common name is not used (i.e. bacon), then the manufacturer is supposed to identify the product with a brief description in the front of the package.

The core ideas are fairly sound. But like many diets it fails when it tells me there are certain foods which must "never" be eaten. It makes especially little sense when you consider that some of those foods are known to be major players in extremely healthy diets, such as Rice and the Okinawan diet.

Eating less processed food is a fucking fantastic idea. Telling me to cut out certain foods entirely for arbitrary reasons is silly.

Look, eat whatever the fuck you want, it's your life and your decision, obsessing over what other people choose not to eat is futile and retarded.
Having said that, this is not the paleo diet i have come in contact with, wich was prescribed from a doctor for stomach issues. the paleo lady i was cooking for did not eat any root-vegetables, no oils, no grains but beans where fine.
Not eating beans sounds stupid to me, and rice is a nice starch that can help constipation/diareea in my personal experience.
Fruits and berrys are good and great snacks and treats, just find the one you personaly like(Bananas, strawberrys and carambola/starfruit are my favorites).
Also stricter paleo-diets say you can only eat meat from grass fed livestock. And basically thats a HUGE hassle finding and prob way more expensive.

I agree but lactose intolerance is kinda common and even people not diagnosed with lactose or milk protein allergy can suffer from it. so if you are trying to feel better using diets, taking a break from dairy for 2-4 weeks is probablly a good idea, no?

In resume, the problem is not the milk but the cow milk, he is not digestive, triggers all sort of inflammatory and allergic reactions (even if you is not allergic to lactose) the best alternatives are goat milk (in yogurt form is even better) or REAL non processed cheese.

I dont really understand why dairy is banned in paleo.
Keto makes more sense as it has the goal of going into ketosis and you can eat anything that doesn't interfere with that.

>> No.10651303

>>10650850
To be fair, that's why keto was created. I have serious issues with people shilling it as a lifestyle choice because 90% of them do it poorly and pass on their awful information, but I believe this guy when he says it makes him feel better as an epileptic.

It's fine as a short-term weight loss solution for folks with poor self control, but otherwise it's pretty awful.

> crisis survival state
You mean the state most of our ancestors were in most of the time until they started farming.
Eating massive amount of carbs is way bizarre for our bodies than not eating them. And you will see negative effects from it. Wild energy level fluctuations, tiredness, autoimmune diseases, allergies, diarrhea and other digestion issues. Ketosis is the normal way for human bodies to be, you feel normal and high energy all the time, you avoid a variety of potential diseases/health conditions.

The only situation where someone should avoid ketosis is if they're muscular athletes doing heavy training where the muscles can really benefit from having easy access to energy.

>> No.10651375

>>10651336
>the "ancient man ate nothing but piles of meat" meme
Our ancestors ate massive amounts of plant food. The entire reason why our bodies no longer produce vitamin C is because we were getting such a massive amount from our diet that our bodies stopped bothering. Estimates of our nutrient intake hundreds of thousands of years ago have us eating 100g or more of fiber a day.

Humans are not and have never been carnivores, no matter how hard you shills want it to be true.
