It's pretty chunky but it can work if you're using a stronger noodle. The color makes me think you skimped on the tomatoes. And I'd definitely recommend using some fresh chopped herbs next time.

I did have to add a lot more. Started with like 1.5 lbs and added in 3.5 more.

The herbs are all fresh and cut. Store bought but I am starting a garden. Need to learn how to make it before we waste the good stuff.

My tip would be to use the right tools in the kitchen and try not to make a mess. If you used a dutch oven or a heavy-bottomed, medium-sized steel pot, you wouldn't be splashing tomato sauce all over the place and potentially messing with the seasoning on your cast-iron. That green spatula, though a little small, would be better tool for cooking your ragu and stirring the sauce than that industrial burger spatula, which borders on a paint scraper. Get a good wooden spoon, keep it oiled and clean, and don't put it in the dish. Or, get a proper restaurant-grade rubber spatula rather than a mom-tier consumer one.
