**Actually tax reductions spur economic growth. You take in MORE in taxes because MORE people get hired when corporate tax rates go down. More people get hired, unemployment decreases (hence so do the costs) and tax income increases because more people are paying in. Sales tax income is also boosted when more people have more money in their paycheck to spend at their choosing rather than having it forcibly taken.
