he's lying, it's not that simple. the real reason is because red is bigger on the electromagnetic wavelength spectrum so the heat of your mouth speeds those waves up and they turn white. If you left the mint in the fridge, it would be subtracted and the whole mint would turn red.

Dude is full of shit, they loose equal amounts of color, but the white being white, turns to white, which means you can't see the change, the reason for this is so mysterious that actual scientists can't explain this, but they suspect it's something to do with string theory, since white is just great amount of light molecules formed by fragmentet atoms of light and mint.
