Trying to get into smoking was wondering what you can get away with for a diy smoker ?

Ive seen pictures online of ones made of wood , would wood be so bad if you are just using a hot plate to cold smoke your food?

I was brought up muslim to pork to me tastes really bad, like way too rich and fatty.

But people go on about bacon like it's the tastiest thing on Earth. And people love greasy, overwhelming pepperoni pizza

I've tried pork products for a few years now. What is it that I'm not getting about pork? Where's the tastiness?
