Its not the tab. Hario filters used to be made by Cafec and people loved them for years. Then Hario stopped contracting Cafec and they suck now. That extra little tab of paper on hario filters was how you told the old stock from new. Hario sells "tabless" filters now they're just not the same as the original Cafecs.
