No, I just bought them a couple of years ago off Amazon (for $15). The issue is the onion holder thingy doesn’t lock so it’s really no different then just holding the onion with your hand (which is in fact easier).

I’m not much of a cook so maybe not the best example but I recently bought pic related off Amazon for $15 and so far, all I’ve used is the “santoku” knife for slicing onions for liverwurst sandwiches.
