Sure you can be without power for 3 days to a week, but why would you be if you could take steps to prevent that? Having power means keeping the fridge/freezer running as well, and power to electric heating elements for boil water notices so that your bottled water supply isn't the only source of water you have. Then the availability of electrical devices etc.
You could technically get by without, but it is hellacious living without AC in wet heat man, man. For weak fuckers who have certain medical conditions it is a necessity
