When frozen chicken leg quarters are getting blown out for 30-60 cents/lb in 10/lb bags I get them and boil them up, strip the meat off and add a cup of dry rice along with the meat back to the stock...the rice is more for some body so it all conceals and us easy to spoon out in equal portions.
Works out to about 30-40 cents per same amount in the plastic tubs that cost $2.20 or so, and the dogs go nuts for it mixed with some kibble.
They also each get a special Christmas potato each year from Santa Claus and literally vibrate with excitement when they are being handed out
