I personally use pic related, but WorkSharp is reputable and has a $70 sharpener.
A whetstone or diamond stone would be the best performance/cost ratio though.

I have sharpened blender blades with a crock stick from pic related, it blends better afterwards.
However these were old blades with years of use, you shouldn't need to sharpen new ones.

I use pic related, but if bro splurged on his knife then he'll probably want a whetstone or electric sharpener.

I use a Lanksy TurnBox, the Spyderco Sharpmaker mentioned by >>20359856 is better, but I didn't think it was worth the premium.
A whetsone will be the most cost-effective if you practice sharpening often though, I just sharpen more than kitchen cutlery.

Pic related is what I use, which is personally the sweet-spot in terms of performance for effort and price.
However, a whetstone or diamond stone is the most cost-effective if you practice sharpening often.

You could get pic related which is easy to use. I have the Lansky and it's pretty effective.
Idahone and A.G. Russell also makes crock sticks, but they're hard to get outside of USA.
There's also the rolling ones by HORL, but they're pricey and has the edge-side facing up.

Looks like Project Farm tested the Spyderco Sharpmaker and Lansky System, but not the Lansky Turnbox.
Since it only supports 20° angles and the rods are coarser than the Spyderco, I'm guessing it's around 200g/cut.
Seems right, my knives aren't lasers, but it's good enough. The versatility is also a plus over the pull-throughs.

You could get some thing like pic related, can sharpen nail clippers too. Not for longer knifes though.
