Yeah you're right there were 3qt jars, but those were for hot-water pickling not pressure canning I think. You can see it's not near as strong.
I collect old ones from the second-hand stores in a rural area, so I bet mine are mostly pre 1980s. You can tell the newer ones and many are lower quality, the one I'm drinking from now>>14101766 doesn't even sit level.

I love canning and mason jars though, so g-d useful.
You don't need to store them with the rings. After 4 decades of canning (helped mom and dad when I was a wee lad) I've never found more than a few popped lids, and usually on veggies that I try to cook as little as possible. Like maybe 5 if that.

The newer lids and rings also seem to be cheaper but they work just as well, have to be more careful centering them.
