>have to cook big meal for mother's day
>do it on my father's request (restaurants are closed so I'm his only option and I did it last year)
>he always bitches about it when I do
>he only eats at restaurants so he expects things at restaurants to be like at home
>he hates properly cooked meat and insists I don't do a good job while everyone else raves
>microwaved a hamburger because it was pink
>insists every meal has to have a salad and dessert
>expects multiple options of every thing like restaurants do (cooked only white rice and asked where the brown was)

What is something simple I can make to feed 6 adults?
Things I have made for big groups:
Green curry
Homemade spring rolls
Homemade naan
Bratwurst
Hamburgers
Pork chops with homemade barbeque sauce
Russian honey cake
Lomo saltado

That might be it. I usually just cook for two every day. I'm only worried about my pleb father. Everyone else loves my food.

Some people would rather tell you to eat shit than consider that they may be wrong. Every time I cook for my father he finds a problem with it. I have only impressed him on desserts. He eats out and eats fast food only. A breakfast for him is Tim Hortons or McDonald's. He doesn't even make his own coffee. I can't please him. Every meat I make he hates. He even microwaved a burger when I cooked it medium rare. Some people have different taste. I have made things people wouldn't even try because I made it. My niece wouldn't eat my homemade ice cream because she has something against me. I have cooked my soul out, and it has never impressed my father more than a shitty pizza that has cardboard crust. Picky eaters are scum. Don't bother doing anything for them. I try and try and try and nothing is ever good enough for them. God forbid I use too much butter in something. My mother will mention it the whole dinner. I made mashed potatoes once. Whole pound of butter in them. They were the first thing gone off the table. My mom's are always sitting because they are so dry and awful. My girlfriend doesn't cook and sucks, but she won't take my advice. Everyone has to do it their way or nothing. They might as well be children with my level of talent in the kitchen. But hey, family, friends, and loved ones will never respect you. I suggest you stop helping and let them fail. Have them seethe over your perfect and superior product while everyone else lets their's sit out and get cold. Fuck them.

I'm used to having food made for me and that's not an option right now. I don't want to live off of restaurants and frozen meals, but cooking gives me anxiety.

How do I start?
