The point is it's really hard to find legit natural casing smoked pork hot dogs in the US if you don't live near a business that makes them. What's in the supermarket is mostly skinless bullshit made from a combination of mechanically separated meats. Those are the kinds of hot dogs only Latinos can turn into something delicious.

True, but some can be very good. The smoked pork hot dogs in Denmark are borderline excellent. The NYC and Chicago natural casing all beef dogs flavored with garlic and paprika are pretty fucking good as well. It's when you get to skinless hot dogs you hit crap territory.

Can one of you explain this? Why were skinless hot dogs so awesome an idea back in the 50s? Why would a kid not be allowed to eat two dogs if they weren't skinless?

So why would the inclusion or omission of skins on hot dogs affect how many you were allowed to eat?

Yes this is food related, it's about 1950's weiner quality since nowadays no one would restrict a kid from eating more than one frankfurter if it wasn't skinless.
