Nah, we didn't choose to eat sugar on bread as a matter of course. We got 3 meals a day, just that if you wanted more or you ran out before the bi-weekly shopping trip, you had to get creative.
I remember being amazed sleeping over at my friends' houses and if they were out of cereal in the morning, their mom would go to the store and get us more kek. At my house if it ran out before the bi-weekly shopping trip, it didn't get bought.
There was always plenty of wild caught canned salmon and canned garden vegetables, we never went without. We just went without luxury shit like cereal and snacks. Teeangers like easy snacks, I wasn't going to open quart jar of salmon and fry up some patties, Paddy.

Something like this would be a typical dinner around my house, I made it to show here as nostalgia months ago. Canned green beans, homemade oven fries, and a cheap pork chop. If you wanted something else above this, better get to thinkin'.
