okay faggot, listen up:

>3/4 cup apple cider vinegar
>1/4 cup granulated sugar
>1/4 cup water
>1tsp kosher salt
>coriander seed, peppercorns, bay leaf, mustard seed

thinly slice onions. if you want thicker slices, coat them in salt and let them sit in a collander in the sink for 20 minutes then rinse all salt off (omit salt from pickle liquid if you do this). bring pickle liquid to a rolling boil, pour over onions, refrigerate.

if you want a sweeter pickle, change the ratios to:

>2/3C vinegar
>1/3C water
>1/3C sugar

this is my workhorse pickle recipe.
