You literally cannot beat them at price per unit value, this is what they do for a living and they have the ability to purchase in bulk, which makes the pro rata much more favorable. You may be getting a better end product, but you're spending more and putting in more effort of your own which has to be taken into account.

What does /ck/ think about the Daily Double, a discontinued double cheeseburger from McDonald's featuring their signature cheese surrounded two 100% pure beef patties, a juicy slice of tomato, fresh lettuce and mayonnaise?

For $1.99, this was a worthy upgrade to the standard McDouble and I'm still upset they got rid of it. I propose a petition to bring back the Daily Double? Anyone else with me on this?
