IDK I just got into whiskey and I really like the word. I'd avoid using it around anyone who wouldn't know it though.

the word 'shot' implies that I'd be shooting the whiskey, just slamming it. If I'm ordering whiskey to sip, it's the same amount, and possibly served in the same glass (the bar I work at only has rocks glasses, so that's how we serve shots). However, the term dram lends itself well phonetically to a drink that you'll sip.

then again, I have ~$400 of cask-strength single malt whiskys on my shelf right now, so maybe I'm a fedora after all.

Just bought these today. Managed to get the last Lag 12 in the area with the old (not lame) label. Also managed to get it before the price jumps up $40.

I asked in the last thread, but no one answered: is Evan Williams Bottled in Bond worth sipping on just for the flavor? I see people rave here that it's truly great for the price, but I'm not sure if they're raving because it's an interesting dram for sipping, or just because it's a tolerable drinker which is relatively rare at the price point.
