Public service announcement: absolutely NO ONE cares about your fast food/grocery store job. No one wants to know anything about mcdonald's or burger king. No one cares how they make the fries or how shitty the drive thru is. And no one especially cares about your experiences there.

So stop telling us all about them.

Texans have words for the things that aren’t chili. Goulash is one of them, as Moskin rightly notes. (I grew up on goulash: a guisado cooked with paprika and pintos, served over al dente macaroni.) Another one is frijoles borrachos, a winter staple in my household: dried beans simmered long and low with a ham hock or salt pork and half a six-pack. There are other things that aren’t chili, too: Chicago-style deep-dish pizza, Montreal-style bagels, New England clam chowder, and dozens and dozens of delicious spicy bean stews. Words mean something, and for the richest words, it’s worth protecting that meaning. When we do, we safeguard and pass on the regional peculiarities that made this nation interesting in the first place. Even New York can boast a few dishes of its own, I’m told.

So chili: no beans. Chili is beef plus hot and smoky. No macaroni, no cinnamon (c’mon), and certainly no tofu. Chili is good over Fritos, but just remember, then it’s called Frito pie. Nobody cares what you put on top of chili. Cilantro, cheese, sour cream—have a party. Frankly, Texans are all too happy to share for the Super Bowl the party we’ve been enjoying for a couple hundred years.

Bars are for having fun and socializing, not for saving money on booze. Don't be a loser that sits at the bar by himself.

I have been coming to /ck/ off and on since about 2010, and the most bizarre thing about it is still that I seem to be the only person here who uses a grill to cook steaks.

>MIL is raising hens, saves one for the fiance
>butchered it today
>boiled it too long, cooked the outside of the meat and lost the skin when plucking

How badly did I fuck up? Is it going to be salvageable or is the meat ruined now? It's just the outside bits that were cooked it seems. Also how long are you supposed to boil them for before plucking?

I don't think anything should be done to increase the quality of /ck/. If anything, we should do something to decreast the quality.

I propose we keep one HUGE HORNY HEIFER thread pinned to the front page.

>Work in grocery store, dairy department to make some summer money
>Guy comes up to me and says that the brand of organic whole milk he wants is out of stock
>"Let me take a look in the back for you"
>All of that type of milk expired 2 days ago, we won't get another (small) shipment of it for a while since almost no one buys organic whole milk
>There is fresh organic whole milk in another brand though, bring it out for him
>"Ahh nah sorry, only want [Special Brand] milk, I've looked around at 4-5 other [Grocery Store Names] and none of them have it in stock!"
>Explain that the next shipment will probably be in a few days and apologize

Are you guys like this? How loyal are you to certain brands, and does it vary based on what type of food/ingredients you're buying? In this dudes case it just doesn't make sense to me, I honestly don't think you could tell a difference between the two milks. Especially not taste worth roaming around 5 different stores for.
