What goes best with the classic American breakfast, sausage or bacon?

So when people talk about hashed browns they generally refer to shredded browned crispy potatoes like thus, or a similar thing made into a sort of cake or bar, like the McDonalds kind. But when I was growing up my mom cooked "hashed browns" that were nothing like either, they were not shreds of potato but they were cubes of potato, and they were not really crisp they were soft and moist and generally with peppers and onions. What is this?

Idk but eggs are not good by themselves, you need some shit like this. Just eggs? They don't work alone, unless you like eating farts. They work with other actual foods though.
