so, the original formula was fine. This whole new way of judging is ill conceived.

1. Not everyone is going to have the confidence to participate in the first couple of rounds. So by making the contestants sign up ahead of time will isolate people that would have otherwise gotten into the game later.
also, the timestamp/identifier thing works points taken off for challenge goals if the forget.
2. >>5092893 these requirements are over complicated. Less categories would be better.
Idea, presentation, composition could be replace with just originality and presentation. Judging the presentation would encompass the composition anyway. Imagined taste, texture, aroma could be replaced with "subjective appeal". The above categories already cover if the dish looks pretty, and is well arranged, but if the ratios sound off or the ingredient combinations off putting then "subjective appeal" would cover that. Lastly, you would need a category to cover if the contestant met the requirements of the theme of the round, especially if restrictions or special requirements were imposed (as in the case of being a penalty) . You could just call it "achievements unlocked" or "challenge goals" or "theme satisfaction" if you want to be different.
The following would be covered by the categories above:
> Ingredients
challenge goals
>Technique
presentation
> Compositing
presentation/subjective appeal
>Planning
subjective appeal
>Effort
subjective appeal
>Realization
challenge goals

3. I don't know what to say about the google docs voting. It is a good way to keep everything in order, but if you could add a "notes" section for the judge to leave feedback if he wishes it would be better. The feedback from the judges is very important in this competition. You could post a link to a cut and past site like paste bin. with each of the contestants "notes" cut and pasted from the form onto one sheet for each contestant. Other folks would be able to view this information too

stop waiting last minute to get your dishes in. Think about placement and food styling before you even cook the dish. You have a terrible camera, but that isn't holding you back. You are holding yourself back, maybe it is a lack of confidence problem-idk. I do know that you have talent in respect to cooking, but when you compete if falls short. Your dish was alright. It was better than mediocre, but you can do better. The vertical was good, especially when you go into the process (ie: explaining why you slashed the fat on the pork). The dish was lacking in creativity. The pork marinade sounds delicious but the chop could be more caramelized. Unfortunately, the rest of the dish was uninspired. You would not have gotten a better score for posting instant ramen and lunchmeat. You would have gotten a better score from me if your presentation plate looked more appetizing and the meal was more interesting. I wish you well in the coming challenges as I think you will make it to the next round and beyond.
