It is easier, but it's not necessary. I don't know what kind you have, but if you can control it and pour a small stream, you're fine. Like I said, just practice first. It will likely be easiest to pour slowly if you leave just what you need in there. I fill mine with one liter, use half to warm my mug and cone, leaving the remaining 500ml for my 400ml pour

Watch YouTube videos of people with goosenecks. If you can pour a stream just like that, then why would you need one? Knowmsayin?
