Pick up one chopstick. Hold it like a pencil. Pretend to write your name with the chopstick. Notice how you can move the chopstick around.

Add the second chopstick to your hand. You don't need to move this one, it stays still in your hand as long as you've got a bit of a grip on it.

Since you can move one chopstick around, and you don't have to think about the other moving, you can grab stuff between the two. Maybe imagine you are a crab. See how one part of the crab's claw moves and the other doesn't?
