I have the Lansky as well and it's indeed great for how much effort it takes.
Wish the rods were longer though, even my 7" knives are a bit cumbersome.
Thinking of getting pic related if I visit the USA, the Spyderco cost too much.

The Lansky, and similar round ones from Idahone/A.G. Russell, can fix chips smaller than the rods' diameter.
Spyderco's triangular sticks would work on even larger ones, in fact it can be configured as a makeshift stone too.

Yeah, hard to fuck up with that unless you're purposefully trying to ruin the temper or are legitimately handicapped.

It was under $20 when I bought it and it's $33 full price now, where do you see $40?
Still kinda pricey now, I would rather get pic related for $50 instead if there wasn't a sale.
I agree that the coarse rods are pretty pointless though, I only needed the white rods.

I use a Lansky turn box for my knives, clippers, scissors, and other bladed tools. Excellent perf/effort ratio and it's compact.
Thinking of getting pic related for the longer rods, but unfortunately they only ship in the USA outside of $500+ orders.

Well that will certainly require you to never get pretty knives. If you don't want to mess around with stones just get a nice crockstick sharpener. AG Russell in pic, or Sharpmaker, or Lansky 4 stick or even Lansky pocket although that has 22.5 degree angle. None of them will chew up your knife like an electric sharpener and it will remove plenty as long as you're not thinning or working out chips/dings.
