This is why responsible farming, education, and animal welfare is important. We need to eat more widely, and more of an individual animal's parts, not just the choicest cuts.

I watch a doco where Innuit would hum-sing to seals they had hunted. Firstly, only the best hunter delivered the first and killing blow, then the song helped calm the animals as they bled to death, they'd hug it and pat it like other seals. The lyrics where an apology for killing the seal but that they [the hunters] needed to feed their families, so they would remember it's spirit and its spirit would give them energy and life so they could worship whatever creator god made the seal and protect it's brothers and sisters.
