>most "chili" recipes barely have any chilis in them.
the people that say this don't seen to understand that chili powder is dried chilies.
I ground these up and it only made like 2 Tbsp of powder but thats more then enough peppers for a pot of chili

a whole fuklot of'em
first you de-seed then toast in the oven or dry skillet for 2 to 3 min until you start to smell them
then either grind them into chili powder or soak in hot water for 30min then puree in the blender

>I want to move away from the packet of seasoning next time
you'll need dried chilies which might be hard to get in your area
deseed them then toast in a hot skillet or oven until they start to smell
after that there are two different methods:
#1. gring the toasted chilies into powder and throw that in the pot like you would a seasoning packet
#2. (the authentic method) soak the toasted chilies in hot water for 30-45min then put in a blender and make a puree which will be the base for your chili sauce

buy some cumin seeds and toast/grind them as well, retards on here will say "no cumin" but you won't find a can of chili or seasoning packet in the world that doesn't have cumin in it

no! absolute crack head way and still got it wrong
you don't toast dried pepper wt ha open flame and you need to soak the toasted peppers in hot water until they soften then blend
here is a much better recipe for Texas chili
