I worked with a kid who thought his TDEE was 600cals cause thats what his apple watch said he burns. He was 6'1" 220. Also that only carbs contribute to weight gain, not calories so he was on keto at 1500cals a day. I would watch him eat 1000 cals in BAGEL breakfast sandwiches and hashbrowns and bacon strips from dunkin donuts every coffee break. I tried talking to him about it but i'm "not a doctor" and "my nutritionist taught me this" Some people are too far gone.

The weight gain from Prednisone comes from increased appetite and fluid retention. Keeping a healthy, low sodium diet, controlling your appetite, and just walking around the block are more than enough to combat a majority of the weight gain. I have Crohn's disease and I've been on prednisone for a while, with dosages ranging anywhere from 60mg to 120mg. I've gained a grand total of 18 pounds over the course of my medication. Stop making excuses.
