This is the best for Martinis (2.5 parts gin, 1 part Noilly Prat Vermouth).

4 parts Plymouth gin kept in the freezer
dash of salt solution (5g salt in 20ml water)
1 part chilled noilly prat dry vermouth
1 strip of lemon peel

Half fill a mixing glass (which you stored in the freezer) with ice and add the gin, vermouth and a tiny dash of salt solution. Stir for 30 seconds, then strain into the chilled glass. add the lemon peel
