a sticky always has a stale "waste of space" feel for me. it lists a few common sense rules as a way for mods and jannies to issue bans in an effort to keep the focus of the board. However it never ends up affecting board culture and posting on a deep level. The old way of stating the rules of the board was a good old "THIS USER WAS BANNED FOR THIS POST" with an additional locking. That kind of shit sticks with the average anon as it's often meme worthy. additionally, on a slower board like /ck/, the ban post will stay around for a while. I guess I feel like visible and more obvious ban hammers, and less discreet moderators would be way more effective than a sti/ck/y that nobody will really read or even remember if they do.
