i just taste-tested this opened, store-bought alfredo sauce that's been in my fridge for an indeterminate amount of time. less than a month, but longer than two weeks. my fridge is pretty fucking cold, is this shit probably safe to eat?

this might be one of the most retarded questions you guys will get all night, but how is oatmeal supposed to be cooked? i boiled 2.5 cups of water and stirred in a little over a cup and a half of oats and let it cook until the water had been absorbed, but the oats are still a little chewy. the closest food-related analogue i can think of is pasta being al-dente. my family never ate oatmeal growing up and i think this is actually the first time i've ever had it. is it supposed to have this consistency or is it supposed to be mushier?
