Any tips on how /ck/ finally stopped drinking so much wine, bourbon, and great beer? I could use some advice.

For the taste, of course. I personally prefer a vintage of Miller's 64 vintage so as not to overtake the flavor for the medicinal properties.

I was a regular al/ck/ poster but haven't been here in a few weeks. I actually made pic related.

Work was getting increasingly difficult to near impossible with the drinking so I cleaned up and went to AA. First week was shit. Didn't sleep for like 3 days, diarrhea all the time, the fear, just terrible.

I'll be 7 weeks sober tomorrow. Got a sponsor and he's a cool guy. A lot of AA is really stupid, but if you get with the right people it's not too bad. Most of the shit women say is pretty dumb and there are lot of guys that just like to list of sayings that really have no meaning, but if you can get connected with a small group of guys trying earnestly to get sober it helps.

Hardest part now is the boredom and difficulty in enjoying things. Days seem like they go faster than they did when i was drinking. Started smoking again, might get a vape.

It's more than that. It's not rational. It's hard to describe. It's like feeling electric.

I remember once I was looking at my hands and i had a panic attack because I didn't recognize every single crease in my hand. A fly could go by your head and you would jerk your entire body. You can't sit still, but you don't want to move either.

Just imagine being on the edge of a panic attack going "fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck", tipping over into panic attack, and then back to the precipice for hours on end and knowing that slamming back a few beers or shots could keep that feeling at bay.

That's the fear. Like they said. You'd know.

I'm in a similar situation. Almost 26, good job and live with my gf. WD's are often something you will miss.

For me it all starts with the fear. It's just sheer terror of existing sober. You'll feel detatched, constantly on edge and maybe experience panic attacks or brain zaps, like sudden moments of being hyper-aware and it's all horror.

Then come the sweats. Your forehead will get drops of sweat on, probably get pit stains and swamp ass, but you'll be sorta cold at the same time.

I don't get the shakes really, but I will feel weak. I'm a big binger, I'll crush tons of booze from friday to monday, and then recover and do it all over gain.

I'm working on cutting it out though. The WD's are not worth it, but you're brain tricks you when you're sober that they're not that bad because everything is so boring.

Pay attention to the hangovers. When you start getting the fear, it's too late. You don't want to get there. Hang in there.
