>Ask anything
Epistemologically speaking, are we in a post-truth milieu? That is, can one actually teach truth when a large portion of the population actively rejects objective truth? (Insofar as objective truth exists, I suppose.)

This is correct in as far as you go. It's important to add that the post-war prosperity was coupled with a first in middle-America: Leisure time. Prior to WWI, very few families had the luxury of having a wife at home, their own house, a bit of extra money, and very cheap food. After WWII, many-to-most families had at least some of these. Combine this new affluence with the post-War technology boom, and you have a group of people with the time and money to innovate in a milieu centered around innovation. Homemakers innovated in the kitchen while Lockheed innovated in aerospace.

And the 'cuisine' of the 50s in America is a strong reminder that not all innovation is good, and that innovation for its own sake is just silly.

OCD used to prevent me from being able to eat while wearing a hat or even after removing a hat if I could not wash my hair first. Ruined a date once.

Was locked in a room for nine days by my ex gf's sister's dope dealer over her stupid debt. The room was the walk-in cooler in a closed restaurant building his parents owned. He left me no food but at least lined the walls with gallons of water. Would have probably gotten out sooner, but he apparently realized he was going to prison and committed sudoku without telling anyone he had straight up kidnapped my ass.
The first thing I ate when I left the hospital was bacon cheeseburger.
