Kitchen Mandolin. Everyone should learn basic kitchen knife skills, there are some things that a mandolin isn't shaped for, mandolins are annoying to clean, and they really aren't faster than just using a knife once your kitchen skills are high enough.

All that said, I just like the feel of cutting with a mandolin.
