people get rid of things mostly because "new is better" meme. truth is that things like waffle maker like the old ones had no electronics and when properly taken care of (don't get the elements wet) they last for fucking ever.

Modern toasters are absolute shit ALL OF THEM. the only thing the do better than old ones is they have wider slots.

pick related is the best toaster ever made. people who got rid of them did so because the lifting mechanism stopped working right, and they had forgotten there is an adjustment on the bottom of the toaster for that. The all still work even after 80 years.
