French coffee is almost 100% universally bad. With French people and anything edible or drinkable they are always sure that they are right, and usually they are, but not about coffee. They still need to learn how to make coffee. You have to go to the really hipstered up neighborhoods to get anything acceptable (pic related). On the bright side, there seems to be some sort of national law that says the price of espresso must be absurdly low, so the price of good coffee is basically identical to the price of bad coffee, assuming you can actually find the good coffee.
