It depends, some are completely indigestible and those ones give you diarrhea but they also get absorbed and have paracrine effects as your body sees it as glucose. Some like aspartame are completely digestible and their only benefit is they are sweeter so you can use less.

But studies have shown that just the sensation of sweetness by the nerves of the tongue causes incretin release which is upstream of insulin. It's unclear if it's this sweet taste receptor activation or effects of artificial sweeteners entering circulation, but they definitely do cause GLP secretion.

So I'm moving into an apartment and I have no cooking equipment. Money isn't an object and I cook quite a bit, so I figured I should invest in stuff that's going to last me a while and serve me well, but the problem is that I know jack shit about cooking equipment.
