Cooking is cheaper when you know what you're doing. Initial costs if you have no spices or anything on your rack could be a bit more expensive but they'll last a long time.
Look into soups and stews, it's very hard to fuck those up and they make oodles of food for cheap and they're delicious.

You can make a better sandwich with ground pork and storebought bbq sauce, let alone if you actually bothered to make it with real rib meat and homemade sauce.
It's a super easy recipe and the McD's sandwich is a disgrace because it's just a sloppy mound of sauce with nothing to it.

One time at a bk drivethru i ordered my usual bacon double cheeseburger. Over a period of time they seemed to have been making them all in advance and nuking them before handing them out. Kept being disappointed with the cheese being almost liquified and the whole burger being scalding hot. Finally snapped one day when i got the worst i had ever experienced of that nuking treatment and i drove back thru the drivethru and threw the wretched mess at the drivethru window and i instantly became reformed from my bk double bacon cheeseburger addiction
