I need some advice.
I’m a Chef apprentice in Germany and nearly finished with my training.
I´m thinking about doing a confectioner (Konditor) apprenticeship in a elevated patisserie.
Or Going to Austria in a big kitchen.
Here are some of my pros and cons for the apprenticeship:
Pro:
- Learning new stuff / deepening my knowledge
- Advantage for future job application
- I would be able to stay at home for a few more years
- Less expenditure ( rent food etc.)
Cons;
- Less income
- The time investment (2-3 years)
- Maybe A lot of things would be the same as in the chef training.
- Maybe I wouldn’t want to go back to the stressful kitchen an extra hours

Pro:
- Learning new stuff
- More income
- Seeing new Kitchen/ cuisine
Cons:
- Moving from home ( I would have to give up my hobbies, wouldn´t see my friends for a long time)
- A Lot more expenditure ( rent etc.)
- A lot of stress and extra hours
-
If I´m going to do the second apprenticeship I would go to a big Kitchen in Austria after that.
What do you guy (chefs in particular) advise me to do?
