And yes since you brought it up, the 8F in my $350 Seiko is a much better movement in every way than the rebranded ETA in my Longines, but 28.8kbph is nicer to look at and if you wear a cheapie people just assume you don't care how you look. That's why they make brands like Longines and Baume & Mercier. So that people like me can just slap something on our wrist and go "see, look. so much care, such orological virtue" while having something boring enough so actual watch spergs leave us alone instead of trying to talk about watches.
