Last two times I went sucked. Even with my "local guides" (relatives who've lived their whole lives there)

>place we went to had no carne asada or tongue tacos
>No carne asada anywhere else
>got a tostada that was burnt to shit
>fish tacos that are just cheap fish in plain corn tortillas dunked in oil
>"'"'"'steak"'"'"' from some old bourgeoise restaurant that was just the same rubbery, gray utility steak my mom feeds me back home
>tripitas that were also burnt to shit
>mole verede i.e ground up seed sauce with boiled, flavorless chicken
>horchata that tasted nothing like rice water, but some super sugary sludge with coconut milk (REALLY?)
>big bowl of chilaquiles that were spicy as fuck yet managed to have no flavor
>a can of beans because everything else is closed by the time you get back from sight seeing/visiting family/arriving from the airport or bus terminal
