Liver has toxic levels of vitamin A and can kill or severally deform a child. Raw meat and dairy, if not fermented properly (and therefore conserved) can kill through infecting the mother and child with all kinds of pathogens. Different herbs and spices can induce crambs and abortions.
Females get sick during early pregnancy to prevent all such things. They get a much pickier smell as well and will start to puke just by smelling some specific stuff. Most will prefer inoffensive carbs for that very same reason, even if they lived keto before.

While those points are distinct for pregnancy, women do favour different smells and tastes biologically, if only to get fatter than make and therefore store more energy for when actually pregnant and more importantly, post partum.
