>college aged beer drinkers arguing about who is more mature

This thread pretty well sums up why self-identified "beer guys" are intolerable to be around.

If you add colorants to the wine to drastically change the color and tell experts that it's something other than what it is, they'll actually believe you and their analysis will contain errors. In addition, people who have never tasted wine before tend to prefer the taste of cheap wine over expensive wine in blind taste tests.

All of this proves that, as my gut feelings and resentment towards what I perceive to be "nice things" already already would have told us, wine is a scam for 50 year old women and homosexuals. Personally, I only drink IPA because it shows that I'm a real man.

because the point is to control your facial contortions and demonstrate that you can "handle" more macho manly beer than your piss swilling pleb friends. mainlining it would be tryhard, it has to look like you're a manly neckbeard who has wrecked his palate and can no longer detect subtle flavors.

>insufferable neckbeards having a pissing contest over who can handle the most unbalanced garbage known to man

This is why drinking with "beer people" and "scotch people" is one of the most terrible things ever.

Remember guys, a beer needs to be as over-hopped, boozy, and obscure as possible. Otherwise it's piss swill pushed by Coors or something. Let's all defend monsanto and fast food conglomorates until we're blue in the face, but god forbid our beer be appealing to the senses or come from a brewery employing more than two people. I claim to hate foodie yuppies but I'll cop all their buzzwords anyway, like seasonal, local, vintage, mouth feel, and natural. But only when it comes to craft beer (not to be confused with pleb beer). Beer is getting more and more popular which means it beats wine, suck on that snobs, the people have won! But not "the people" like you probably think I mean, because beer is for elitists like me (not you). We connoisseur now!

>aging beer

It's not wine, it doesn't need to be treated like wine, and it's fine that it's not wine. The two can coexist. Stop trying to overcompensate.

Just roll with it. Salt and pepper is for ascetic monks who believe that self denial is going to please the moon goddess gaia or some shit. A real chef just cooks on instinct and you need to develop your instincts, son. Just remember, in ancient times spices were more precious than gold. So pour yourself a tall glass of sweet golden mead, turn up the heat, and experiment! My favorites are italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion salt, Mrs. Dash, Old Bay, ground powdered parsley, freeze dried chives. I've also been getting into curry powder lately. And of course no food is complete without a generous sprinkling of chili powder.

tl;dr you learn by doing, so just focus on building up your spice rack so you can have enough spices to try out for every meal.

Neckbeers need a way to feel superior, but even the most expensive beer is still quite inexpensive, and the most rare and exotic beer can be recreated by anyone with a homebrew catalog. So in order to create a much desired sense of exclusivity where, by definition, it cannot naturally exist, they fabricate distinctions like muh seasonal availability and muh growler only.

And now you know.
