Buy a rice steamer and long grain sweet rice
Look up jolloff rice and shito spice blends to step your rice game up to actually flavorful levels. Asian style of rice is bland on purpose it's a complimentary side like a western bread basket it can be this fantastic thing but most of the time it isn't it's just carbs to fill you up. Afrikaans style of rices are dishes in their own right or Spanish/Latin rices as they are components of a dish (arroz con pollo) and are flavorful. Americans got their rice knowledge from natives (wild rice) or the Chinese when they came over to build the railways neither is that impressive which is why rice isn't a massive staple of food here just something we keep around to sometimes have if we aren't in the mood for potatoes or pastas

Steamed rice really is the best

Get a long grain sweet rice, wash it really well and soak it for a few hours (like 4 hours). Get the basin boiling and put the bamboo on top with the rice in it and cover for 15 minutes, toss the rice to flip it and cook for another 15 minutes. Fucking best rice you ever had and good for rice balls
