at a psychological level, these threads fascinate me. how does someone get the motivation, for years apparently, to post in character oc when 90% of the interaction from the community involved is abusive?
the lack of any donation button on twitch or a patreon or some similar platform rules this out as a money making operation. id imagine making the content isnt inherently enjoyable enough to continue doing it for years, of the three threads ive seen two have had the same cut of meat, so its neither novel nor enjoyable having banter with people calling you a tranny/whore/etc.
ill give two thoughts on where such motivation could then come from. firstly, although much to op's refusal, is an attention whoring aspect. we are all lonely sad sack humans, having people recognise and give you attention could be a nice feeling, even if that attention is largely abusive. second would be for charitable reasons, i am way too cynical and lazy to help retarded manchildren online with basic cooking skills, especially over the course of years, but its not impossible that op is one such person. however(and this is also especially applicable to that dickered cat guy) if that was the case though, then there is no reason for character/personality building such as the introduction webm and <4 signature posting. any movement away from the site's anonymity(especially with a continuing identity over a long period of time) points more so to the former motivation rather then the latter, but it could be a combination of both. in any case, even if avatarfagging is cringey, this thread and the dickered guy's content is still 90% more relevant to food and cooking then most of the autism fastfood posting / youtube eceleb posting etc that goes on here, and that especially should be encouraged

Can saliva hydrate you? Would eating or chewing something that generates saliva production be an alternative to drinking water

Hear me out....
What if, /ck/ was split into 2 boards?
All fast food posting, al/ck/, and general food/shitposting/hot-sauce-shilling would good to /fo/ for food, while /ck/ realised its destiny and became a safe haven for chefs and those actually cooking recipes?

kind of related, not all customers come with a mindset to be pleased and as such are unable to have a good time no matter what you do for them
>last week
>doing a christmas in july spread
>special function we run at work every year
>semi set menu(3 options per course)
>overall a very nice time, its fun to cook a different menu, customers also seem to enjoy it
>table of ~10 old ladies come in on the friday night
>9 of them were lovely as far as i can tell(never met them as working out back)
>1 was an unpleasable customer
>a pumpkin and chestnut soup comes back to me for "not having enough chestnuts"
>i reheat the soup in a new pan, add in some more chestnuts, replate it and send it out
>she eats it all
>30 minutes later
>glazed ham main comes back in, "for having the gravy over the ham and yorkshire pudding, and not on the side"
>waitress tells me it was the same old lady
>also tells me that the lady wants to have her meal for free for being inconvenienced twice
>in the middle of dinner rush though, cant be fucked dealing with it so get new ham, sides etc and put gravy in a jug on the side, send it out
>she eats it all
>night is quieting down
>as the desserts get sent out to this table, i tell the waitress that the lady will have to pay full price as she ate all her food
>she sends back her dessert without touching it(didn't say what the issue was), in order to claim she "hasn't eaten the gross food"
>argues with front of house, eventually gets given half price
moral of the story, trying to cater to these people is way to taxing on ingredients, time and sanity that it is definitely not worthwhile for your business bother. being able to identify these 1 in 500 customers and telling them to fuck off asap is a beneficial skill, hopefully the chef from the op got it right.
