>Visit mother during holidays
>She's 63 years old, Russian, And will always make it known how horrible my country is compared to Glorious Russia
>We have a fuckhuge family but no one from her side of the family in this country, my girlfriend and her family are invited and my father has a multitude of siblings that are waiting for food as well
>I decide to make a salad, with other people at the house making other dishes
>I should make two different salads since we have a vegan in the house
>The vegan one is a quinoa salad with flaked almonds, cucumber, fried cherry tomatoes halved in a special sauce, onions, fresh mint, lime juice, raisins, some coconut shreds and of course the Quinoa
>The other is a Spicy beef salad made with beef sirloin steaks on the tender and rare side, they were marinating in a mixture of spices all day with BABY gem lettuce, fresh mint, banana shallot, halved cherry tomatoes and radishes
>This is all I'm going to be cooking so I want to damn make it taste good infront of my girlfriend and her family since they know I'm an aspiring chef
>Mom says she's going to cook because she wants to
>I say sure thing, go ahead!
>She was more of a microwave meal kind of mother, but I want her to enjoy herself because I love her
>Both my salads are almost done I just need to add the Quinoa to the vegan one

>Worst decision of my life
>She put mayonnaise and herring into BOTH along with cabbage, pickles, and slightly raw potatoes (They were for another dish)
>Mfw my mom started crying when I raised my voice at her
>Mfw my dad yelled at me infront of my girlfriend's family and made it a HUGE deal for the better part of an hour
>No one ate either salad
